Delegate Innovation News – Final Edition

CEO wrap up

Alex de Waal, CEO TTNQIt is really exciting to hear so many delegates and even speakers talking about the inspiration and knowledge they got from the inaugural News Corp Australia Tourism Innovation Conference. I was particularly pleased to have our opening keynote speaker Bernard Salt tell me the conference was up there with the best he had participated in.

An internationally acclaimed speaker, Bernard believes this innovation conference was superior to others as it offered tangible insight into the innovation process which will undoubtedly be applied by delegates.

The real measure of success will be whether this conference influences change. Innovation is all about action, about deconstructing what is, imagining what could be, and not relenting until a great idea becomes an invaluable and exciting reality.

Some of the feedback already shows delegates are keen to begin the innovation process in their workplace with innovation ideas flowing freely after the conference at the Intrust Super Tourism Industry Excellence Cocktail Event.

We had a broad cross-section of business and tourism industry delegates at the conference and it was great to hear how they valued the conference content.

A/Deputy Director-General of the Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games Anne Greentree said she had heard lots of great comments. “I thought the speaker line up was excellent and different – I’m a pretty harsh judge of conference speakers so you did well!”

Leigh Sorensen from Tourism Australia thought it was very well structured and organised with some really interesting and innovative content.

It was also great to get positive local feedback from our members with Hilton Cairns Conference and Events Sales Manager Rennay Hanrahan saying she had a fantastic day and was looking forward to the same structure in 2016.

Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours Managing Director Sheena Walshaw praised the Conference as an incredible investment in our region. “As well as inspiring and re-invigorating attendees, I believe you have elevated this region and its operators and that is no mean achievement. Now it’s up to us to carry that forward and set ourselves apart with innovative practices and thoughtful operations.”

In this final delegate newsletter we are seeking your feedback on the Conference and the Intrust Super Tourism Industry Excellence Cocktail Event via a 10-minute survey. Please take the time to add your opinion to enable us to make a decision on an event for next year.

Thank you for making the inaugural News Corp Australia Tourism Innovation Conference a success through your attendance and I trust you have taken away a lightbulb moment that will lead to business success for you.

Finally, I must give an especially big thank you to our many sponsors who enabled the News Corp Australia Tourism Innovation Conference and the Intrust Super Tourism Industry Excellence Cocktail Event to proceed and attract such high calibre speakers. We most definitely could not have done it without you.
